This architectural study is about a complete renovation of a 101 sq.m apartment in the area of Koridallos in Athens, Greece. The main goal here was about creating a living room and kitchen area, featuring a contemporary open-plan layout. It was actually a challenging project, since it was hard to follow the original layout plan, mainly due to lack of space, and for technical reasons.

As far as design, we opted for all interiors to resemble a Mid-Century modern style. To actually achieve this, we used rustic wood accents, natural concrete surfaces, and customized furniture, employing a variety of materials. The main characteristics were simple forms, with emphasis given to functionality, and an all-encompassing character; in other words, a home suitable for everyone to enjoy!
This renovation was intended to meet the needs of a young couple, with plans for a future family. Therefore, two spacious bedrooms were provided, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom, in addition to a junior bedroom, used as a guest room for the time being. Moreover, several storage spaces were created in different parts of the house, since the overhead storage space above the bathroom ceiling was taken down. In order to utilise every sq. m. of space accordingly, we introduced innovative constructions, and details, that would make a remarkable difference in everyday use.
